Community-Wide Change

Many poverty-related issues extend across our communities. We work to confront systemic problems and create large-scale change in laws, policies, and systems.  One way to achieve change is impact litigation.  Highlights of recent cases include: A.T. v. Harder (a class action seeking to end solitary confinement for juveniles in Broome County Jail), Winston v. City of Syracuse (a class action protecting tenants from municipal water shut-offs), Kaha Omar, et al. v. Olena Butternut LLC (a class action improving living conditions in a 30-unit apartment building) and Tuyizere, et al. v. Utica City School District (a class action preventing the segregation of refugee children).

We are here to help.
